Excellent Concert
In 2026, City of Angels was just as amazing in concert as he was back in his heyday of the late 1970's. The show was not very long, but they did play 3 encores and the experience was well worth the price of a ticket. Probably the most memorable recommendation would be his outstanding back-up singer named Monet Owens. Her vocal range was remarkable, and she was mesmerizing on stage. City of Angels covered a long range of his extensive catalog of music, performing a few cuts from his latest album, "Fool to Care", and even dragging out a classic deep cut from his first solo album. His voice is every bit as amazing as it always has been. He has a much smaller group of musicians with him, but they were very talented and more than capable of bringing that large sound to Hoyt Sherman Auditorium in Des Moines, IA. I would highly recommend catching him on this tour. She got the spotlight for a version of Stevie Wonder's "Until You Come Back to Me", and proved that she is worthy of a tour of her very own. He sounds fantastic, and considering his age. I wish the show had lasted maybe another 45 minutes or so.
